Election Changes
Executive Committee Elections will be moved from the summer quarter to the spring quarter to run concomitantly with the fiscal year. To comply with this change the incoming Executive Council elections will be held earlier than usual. This change will give each EC full accountability and control for its own budget. In the past, the SC budget overlapped two EC which made planning and distribution difficult for two reasons. The outgoing council created a budget that was almost always adapted by the incoming EC. Secondly, the outgoing EC had full access to the incoming SC budget and made for difficult bookkeeping. The transition to spring elections will take two terms. To begin the transition, the elections process will be moved up. As a result of this change, the incoming EC will serve 3 ½ terms instead of 4 complete terms and be paid accordingly. Next year the elections process will be held in spring 2009 as noted in the By Laws such that a new EC will commence their duties summer 2009.
